CITROËN CONTINUES TO OUTPACE THE UK CAR MARKET

Citroën is outpacing the UK car market in 2019, with its C3 supermini again topping the sales chart as the brand’s best-selling car in September. Citroën’s SUV offensive continues to bear fruit too, thanks to New C5 Aircross SUV and C3 Aircross Compact SUV securing 2nd & 3rd place respectively in terms of Citroën’s September car registrations.



Against a UK car market that has declined by -2.5% year to date September 2019, Citroën sales have increased by 2.6% in the first nine months of this year.

Citroën’s passenger car market share continues to trend upwards as a result, with the brand posting an increased year-to-date market share of 2.3%, for the same period.

Citroën’s impressive performance this year is underpinned by strong sales of New C5 Aircross SUV, the latest model to be added to the brand’s youthful line-up. September 2019 saw the flagship model’s strongest month since it launched in the UK at the beginning of the year, securing second place in the UK car range in terms of September registrations.

Demand for the upper trim levels of New C5 Aircross SUV continues to be a factor, with over 98% of UK buyers opting for ‘Flair’ and ‘Flair+’ versions in September 2019. UK buyers choosing these top trim levels enjoy features such as ConnectedCAM Citroën®, part leather upholstery, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, colour reversing camera, blind spot monitoring and automatic ‘hands free’ parking, all as standard. Practical and comfortable, with class-leading modularity, New C5 Aircross SUV has become a firm family-favourite among drivers in the UK.

Elsewhere in the range, C3 Aircross Compact SUV and C4 Cactus Hatch continue to outperform the UK  market, posting year to date growth of +8% and +16% respectively against the same period last year.  As with New C5 Aircross SUV, demand for top of the range versions remains very strong with the ’Flair’ trim accounting for 70% of C3 Aircross Compact SUV sales, and 77% of C4 Cactus Hatch sales in September 2019.
